UPTON —  Superintendent Maureen Cohen and Co-Principals John Clements and Mary Anne Moran are pleased to share that Nipmuc Regional High School recently hosted its third annual English Language Arts Night, during which 42 students were inducted into the National English Honor Society. 

The third annual English Language Arts Night was held on Thursday, April 4 at Nipmuc Regional High School. 

Each year, the English Language Arts Night serves as an opportunity for community members to see students’ achievements in English Language Arts classes and learn how the skills they develop in class inspire their interests and pursuits beyond the classroom. 

Throughout the night, attendees enjoyed a variety of live student presentations, readings and performances that showcased students’ passion and talents as they relate to English Language Arts.  One of the sessions included a Spoken-Word Poetry session, hosted in the media center and other sessions ranged from discussions of The Importance of Preserving Literature, while other sessions focused on Looking in Between the Lines-an Exploration of Lyricism. There were live performances from “The Odyssey” and also presentations on internship outcomes in the library/media center. 

In addition to the showcase, 42 students from grades 10, 11 and 12 were inducted into the National English Honor Society. These students join 50 of the school’s current members. 

The inductees included: Isabella Allen, Kaitlyn Allington, Sean Bailey, Nora Bangma, Margaret Boates, Emerson Boissonneault, Gavin Brennan, Micheal Byrne, Ella Calvey, Tyler Carvalho, Alexander Carvalho, Hannah Cotton, Brynn Di Anni, Madison Fernandes, Kayleigh Fountain, Hayley Gibson, Madeleine Gowen, Lyla Hill, Steven John, Ethan LaRue, Sierra Lopes, Makary Mansy, Kendyl McGrath, Kayden McKibbin, Gretchen Merrill, Marria Meshreky, Linara Miller, Siena Miller, Anya Montano, Jade Muñoz, Maria Palmer, Ashley Pisano, Diana Plotkin, Margaret Roberts, Patrick Scott, Aisling Scott, Cillian Scott, Ruby Snyder, Ella Vanasse, Alexander Varney and Madelyn Weibe.

“I am proud to congratulate our newest inductees on their acceptance to the National English Honor Society,” Superintendent Cohen said. “I would also like to recognize each of our students who participated in the third annual English Language Arts Night. The night was a great success and representation of the hard work that our students and staff dedicate to our English Language Arts programs.”
