MENDON — Superintendent Maureen Cohen and co-principals John Clements and Mary Anne Moran are pleased to share that Nipmuc Regional High School has been named a fall 2024 Innovation Career Pathways (ICP) designee by the Healy-Driscoll administration.
The Innovation Pathway in Business and Finance is Nipmuc Regional High School’s second Innovation Pathway designation after they were awarded an Information Technology Pathway in 2023.
ICPs provide students with applied learning experience in high-demand industries such as Advanced Manufacturing, Information Technology, Environmental and Life Sciences, Health Care and Social Assistance, Business and Finance, and Clean Energy. Providing these pathways enables students to explore high-demand careers they may want to pursue at no cost while strengthening workforce pipelines to meet the needs of employers in those industries.
There are two pathways within this ICP for students to choose from – finance and marketing. Each pathway has its own distinct academic requirements and both pathways will provide students with authentic learning, certification programs and a 100-hour internship or capstone project to be completed during their senior year or the prior summer.
The courses being offered through the Business and Finance Pathway include an accounting course and a Microsoft Office course. Certifications offered through the Pathway include Microsoft Office, Google marketing and content marketing.
"We are extremely excited to launch the ICP Business & Finance pathways here at Nipmuc beginning next year,” Business teacher Brian Kelly said. “This will provide a great opportunity for students interested in business and finance to learn more about potential careers through authentic learning experiences and engaging partnerships with local businesses.”
Nipmuc Regional High School’s community business partners include Dean Bank, Blackstone Valley Hub for Workforce Development, MassHire Central Mass and Milford Federal Bank.
“With so many of our students already in our business classes and showing significant interest in business careers, we foresee our students leaving Nipmuc after graduation with an even more enhanced wealth of knowledge and experience than they already have,” Business teacher Jamie Caprarella said. “We are thankful for this opportunity and grateful for our administration and DESE for their support in beginning this new adventure.”
